Hurricane 42, Canyon View 0

October 9th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

CEDAR CITY - Five possessions, five scores for the Tigers in the first half. 35-0 at intermission and the rest of the roster played in the second half. With the win, Hurricane has secured a home playoff game, a 6-1 record, 4-0 in Region 9 play and 1-0 against other 3A schools with two to play.

Robert Reeve had a mammoth game for Hurricane, scoring three rushing TD’s and then 76-yard pass play from QB Tim Long. On his final score, Reeve took the screen pass, faked out one Falcon defender, and ran past the rest, showing great speed and field saavy in the score.  “Tim threw it and we had nice blocking all the way up” said Reeve to a local paper.

Senior Cody Latuda scored the other TD in the first half as Long found the wide receiver in the endzone after Latuda ran a nice route and then had just enough room between the Falcon DB and the endzone for his first TD of the year.

After a scoreless third quarter, sophomore Brian Scott ran in the other score to end the game at 42-0. Canyon View drops to 1-6 with the loss, yet has a chance to secure a playoff berth with a win over Desert Hills next Wednesday.  Hurricane will play for the Region 9 championship as they host Cedar on the same day. The winner of the Cedar-Hurricane game will very likely be the Region 9 champions with the loser slipping to the second seed. For more on the Tigers win, click here
