Another Perfect Week for the Guru?

September 25th, 2009 · No Comments · Football, The Guru, totalUTAHpreps.com

Finally getting his Guru Groove on, the Prophet of Prophecy rolled out a perfect 6 for 6 last week. How did he do it? “I just took it one pick at a time” said the big G. “When my back was against the wall, I just walked away from the wall.” Seemed to work.

So which team will win this week, according to the greatness of the gridiron?

Ogden at Bonneville - An emotional week for the Lakers as they remember 30-year Laker Coach Thom Budge and his death of a heart attack Wednesday. None of the current players were under Budge’s tutelage, but current Coach Matt Williams was an assistant under Budge for eight years. It will bring about much emotion and renewing a rivalry with Ogden that has had an eight-year hiatus doesn’t hurt. The Tigers come in 5-0 and leading the state in scoring. The teams the Tigers have faced however are 6-18 collectively. The Guru thinks the Tigers are for real however. They will get their points, but the Lakers will “Pay the Price” to honor the former field general and win 24-21

Skyline at Cottonwood - Skyline has the history, not losing to the Colts since 1988. Both teams have played very well this year. This game will essentially lock up the Region 2 championship. The Colts have played a schedule preparing them for this game and have the inside track to erase two decades of defeats. Cottonwood will control the time of possession and pull off a win 18-16

Maple Mountain at Payson - The Lions have never lost to the Eagle and will roll 48-9

Davis at Northridge - A focused Dart team knows they must get through the Knights to snag the Region crown. Northridge wants Davis more than anyone else on their schedule. The Knights are going to lay everything on the line in packed stadium Friday. Look for any potential bag of tricks to be left on the field as Northridge pulls off an mild upset 27-24

Pine View at Hurricane - Pine View has squeaked by two 3A schools in consecutive weeks. They get blown out by Cottonwood. The Panthers dominate teams from Alaska. For the first time, they are not getting their due respect  from the fishwrap and are coming into Tiger stadium as an underdog. This is a program that may have seen its best days and is showing signs of a lack of depth. However, this team is good enough to pull out one solid game and will need a win to help their chances to get into the playoffs. Hurricane has given up multiple big plays this year that have been costly. Hurricane will have more time of possession, have more yards, control the line of scrimmage, but look for the Panthers to make a couple of big plays in each half and leave Tiger Town with a 18-14 win
