Davis Delivers In Region Opener

August 29th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

During the pre-game Clearfield fans were complaining and asking why Davis was favored when their team won the first game and Davis didn’t even score in their first.  It took just 20 seconds into the game to answer the question. The first play  for Davis started at their own 30 yard line.  The hand off went to Davis’ Tanner Hinds slicing through the line off tackle.  Tanner broke into the secondary untouched, cut to the outside, then out sprinted everyone 70 yards to the end zone.  11:40 on the clock in the first quarter.  By the end of the game Davis had rushed for 310 yards.  All-state running back Tanner Hinds, who carried the ball only once in the second half, rushed for 178 yards and 3 TD’s, had a punt return for 65 yards and a TD, and a kickoff return fo 26 yards.  Junior quarterback, Gavin Fowler, completed 5 of 6 passes for 69 yards.  Dan Moffett caught 2 for 37 yards.  Defensively the Darts held Clearfield to 118 total yards.  Strong side linebacker, Tallon Burton, finshed with 5 tackles.  Defensive end, Josh Kariya, added 4 tackles and Troy Hinds 3 tackles.  Most of the Davis starters only played 2 1/2 quarters.  So Davis goes to 1 - 0 in Region 1 and 1 - 1 overall.  Next up for the Darts, the Weber Warriors come to Kaysville next Friday night at 7:00 pm.
