Mountain Crest 63, Bonneville 46
At Washington Terrace, the Lakers could not shake off a much taller Mountain Crest team and lost their Region 5 opener, 63-46 against the Mustangs. “Some of it was we wore down, but we also had a couple of guys get banged up,” said Laker Coach Jason Finder. “We don’t usually fatigue, but this being the first Region game, we were keyed up and then hit the wall after two and a half quarters”.
Chandler Smith drilled five 3-pointers for the Mustangs. Bonneville was led by Scott Sellers, who scored 17 points.

Provo 63, Payson 30

 
At Provo, the Bulldogs made it 27 straight as they easily rolled past Payson 63-30 to win their Region 7 opener. Provo had 30 points from Brandon Davies and Kyle Collingsworth.  Davies also had eight rebounds and eight assists.  Payson had nine points from Ryan Reid and eight from Justin Wolf in the loss.

Hurricane 46, Snow Canyon 40

HURRICANE - Hurricane squared off against another 4A team with Snow Canyon on Friday night. And the result is two for two against the St. George schools. Hurricane got into early foul trouble, attempting to stop SC’s 7′1 senior Leland Miller. 

Hurricane’s Zach Sorenson led with 17 points with Ryan Smith adding 9. Hurricane was 13-23 on their free throws and the Warriors were 14-20. Each team committed 19 fouls.
