Following a very rare public appearance on highPod tm with Travis and Mike, the Guru, he arrived back to his mountain resort to enjoy the wildlife, and update his resume just in case Utah State needs him to take over for their football coach. The Guru has game.
That being said, he has still graciously given us some picks for this week, following another 6-1 effort last week.
Park City (2-2) vs. Hurricane (4-0)
In what proves to be one of the best matchups on paper in the state, the undefeated Tigers may be facing the best team of the season. Then again, they may be facing another Miner team that has been inconsistent at best this year. The 2-2 Miners have outscored their opponents 93-7 in their wins and in their losses 55-14. Feast or famine.
The Guru anticipates the PC running game to by stymied by a very good Tiger defense. Hurricane has given up just 32 points on the season. Three of those scores, in mop up time. This year Hurricane picks apart the Miners 32-14
Davis (3-1) vs. Layton (3-1)
Game of the week. The Guru loves the fact that both of these schools come in quite healthy, both teams need this win as they both have Northridge coming soon. Both teams are still trying to prove themselves and get the respect they are hoping for despite high rankings in the TUP 5 (Layton #2, Davis #5). The Guru loves the running game of both schools. He likes the Lancers over the Darts for three reasons:
1. Layton enjoys the experience edge. A game to the finals last year gives Layton the upper advantage. Davis’ biggest games the last two seasons have not favored the Darts.
2. Layton is at home and that will play a factor in the game. Look for a call late in the game to go the Lancers way and playing a factor. it will be worth three points
3. A very aggressive defense will fluster Davis. Look for Davis to have three turnovers and that will be the difference. Layton 24, Davis 14
Fremont (0-4) vs. Northridge (3-1) The Guru wasn’t pleased with the Knights efforts against Weber last week, but Fremont is a struggling team that will allow Junior Cole to feast on the Silverwolves defense. Northridge 75, Fremont 4
Mountain Crest (3-1) vs. Bonneville (1-3) The Lakers need to look at the schedule and play the Plain City 4th Ward rather than the Mustangs on Homecoming Week. The game will not be close. It will be worth going to though as you can have some of the great Grideli’s food near the North endzone. Shameless plug. Mountain Crest 40, Bonneville 13
